Alexander "Sandy" Battisto

Alexander "Sandy" W. Battisto Jr., 73, of Reinholds, passed away Friday, October 6, 2023 at the Tower Health Reading Hospital after a long courageous battle with cancer. Born in Overbrook, Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Alexander W. Sr., & Marjorie Ellen (Shields) Battisto and the loving husband to Sherry Lynn (Jones) Battisto for over 22 years. Sandy attended Overbrook High School and in 1967 he enlisted into the Coast Guard where he would serve during the Vietnam War until 1971. After his time in the service, Sandy worked on the waters of the Chesapeake Bay for the Search & Rescue team in the Annapolis, Maryland area. He later worked at Westinghouse and repaired appliances. Sandy retired in 2008 from the Department of Defense where he was a Communication Specialist for over 30-years. Sandy was a member of the Reinholds VFW Post 6759, the Fritztown Fire Co, and the Gouglersville Fire Co. Time with family and friends was worth planning for, Sandy would plan day trips, meals, and other special details for each visit. He was a great cook; everyone loved his red sauce and pasta dishes. Sandy enjoyed technology, always learning, and tinkering with something new. Downtime with a fishing rod in his hand was pure joy to him along with vegetable and flower gardening. His collection of miniature clocks reminds us now that time is precious, and he will be so dearly missed. In addition to his wife, Sandy is survived by many friends. He was predeceased by a brother, Arthur J. Battisto. A viewing will be held on Wed., Oct. 11th from 6 to 7 p.m. and a Celebration of Life service will begin at 7 p.m. in Good Sipler Funeral & Cremation Centre, 34 N. Reamstown Rd., Reamstown (Stevens), Pa.
