Catherine S. Schlegel

Remembering Catherine with Love... Catherine Schlegel, age 89, of LutherCare, Lititz, formerly of Reamstown, died Tuesday, November 28, 2006, at 11:00 PM in Ephrata Community Hospital . Born September 11, 1917, in East Cocalico Township , she was a daughter of the late Martin L. and Edna M. (Sweigart) Bixler, her husband Arlington "Arlie" Schlegel, died July 8, 1997. A graduate of East Cocalico High School, Reamstown, she was an active member of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, Reamstown, where she was a former Sunday school teacher and choir member. Catherine also enjoyed quilting and creating Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls. She was employed as a hosiery seamer at Berkshire Knitting Mills, Wyomissing, and Dutchmaid, Inc. and was last employed in the cafeteria of Reamstown Elementary School . Surviving is a daughter, Linda F. Walmer, Denver , PA ; a son, Gary L., husband of Kathy (Fitterling) Schlegel, Reinholds, PA; 4 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; a sister, Ruth S. Sulima, Florida; and a brother, Galen S., husband of Georgean (Youndt) Bixler, Adamstown, PA. She was predeceased by a brother, Warren S. Bixler. Viewing Funeral Service... Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2006, at Noon, from Good Funeral Home Cremation Centre, Inc. of Reamstown, with Chaplain Walt Cleckley officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery Annex, near Denver . A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service.
