Ciro Charles Sanicola

Ciro Charles Sanicola, age 93, of Millerstown, Perry County, Pennsylvania, died Thursday, July 16, 2015, at 12:20 pm in Pleasant View Retirement Community, Manheim, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Born in Manhattan, NY, raised in Brooklyn, he was a son of the late Peter & Rosaria (Realmuto) Sanicola. He was a devoted member of St. Jude"s Catholic Church, Mifflinton, PA. Ciro last worked as a master carpenter with the NYC Transit Authority. A WWII Marine Corps sergeant, he maintained Corsair fighter planes serving on an aircraft carrier in the Asian-Pacific theater. After the marine corps, he worked for Republic Aircraft and McDonald Douglas as an airplane mechanic. He enjoyed vintage WWII airplane shows, swimming, fishing & playing baseball and will be sorely missed by his wife of 68 years, Anna Lillian (Greco) Sanicola; children, Dr. Charles P. (Dr. Karen) Sanicola, Hagerstown, MD; John V. Sanicola, fianc"e of Janet Wang, Maspeth, NY; & Maryrose S. (Col. Neil) Vestermark, Denver, PA; grandchildren: Eric, Brett, John & Peter Sanicola, Julie (Shaun) Johnson, Charlene, Leif & Neil (Nicole) Vestermark, & Michelle (Alex) Demitri; and great-grandchildren: Mia, Charles & Jason. Regretfully, a grandson, Kirk Aaron Vestermark and Ciro"s brothers Salvatore, Frank & Thomas predeceased him. Ciro and his wife were inseparable; he was a loving husband, father and good provider. Ciro was a true example of humility; always having a kind word for everyone. The viewing will be held Monday, July 20, from 6 to 8 PM at Good Funeral Home, 34-38 N. Reamstown Rd., Reamstown, PA 17567. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 11 AM from OMPH Catholic Church, 320 Church Avenue, Ephrata, PA 17522. Private burial in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
