Remembering Earl with Love... Earl E. Barnett, 87, 1162 Joann Avenue, Ephrata, Lancaster County, died Saturday, March 17, 2007, at 10:45 PM in Ephrata Community Hospital, where he was a patient for the past week. Born September 10, 1919, in Spring Township, Berks County, he was a son of the late Clarence H. and Eva M. (Baer) Barnett, and was the husband of Bernetha G. (Steffy) Barnett since April 7, 1945. Earl was the president of the former Clarence H. Barnett Son, Inc. and Cloister Service, Inc., Ephrata, 1945-1982, and had worked at Galen's of Ephrata for 13 years as a hardware sales clerk, retiring in 1995. An army veteran of World War II, he was a member and past 20 year trustee of St. Paul's Evangelical Congregational Church, Reamstown. He was the chairman of local Chapter 4918 AARP for 15 years, past president of Ephrata Chamber of Commerce (1967), active in property tax reform, community affairs, recycling, solar energy and energy production. In addition to his wife, he is survived by 2 sons, Earl E., husband of Anita Barnett, Highland Springs, VA; and Donald R. Barnett, Harrisburg, PA; a daughter, Audrey L., wife of Stefan Schweiger, Silver Spring, MD; 4 grandchildren; 3 sisters, Emily M., wife of Robert Levan, Birdsboro, PA; Gertrude M. Young, West Reading, PA; and Edna, wife of Gary Chelson, Oregon City, OR; and a brother, Clarence H., husband of Lois (Weinel) Barnett, Ephrata, PA; brothers Donald Edwin, preceded him in death. Viewing Funeral Service... Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 23, 2007, at 10:30 AM from St. Paul's Evangelical Congregational Church, 44 East Church Street, Reamstown, PA 17567, with his pastor, The Reverence Kirk R. Marks, officiating. A viewing will be held at the church from 9:30 to 10:30 AM. Burial will follow in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, Lebanon County, PA, with military honors.
