Josephine Sweigart

Remembering Josephine with love... Josephine Sweigart, 74, of 37 Miller Road, Akron, Lancaster County, died unexpectedly in her residence Sunday morning. She was born in Manheim Township, Lancaster County, a daughter of the late William and Maggie (Steinmetz) Bender. Her husband, Bertallen J. Sweigart, died February 15, 1995. Prior to retiring, she was employed for 28 years by the former Fleet-Aire Shoe Company, Ephrata. Josephine was an avid bingo player and enjoyed crocheting and working puzzles. Surviving are a daughter, Sandra L. Martin, and a son, Rodney A., married to Robin C. (Rowe) Sweigart, both of Ephrata; 5 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Mereda (Bender) Buckwalter, Leola, PA; Arlene (Bender), married to Robert Schall, Leola, PA; and Pauline (Bender) Stump, Akron, PA; and 2 brothers, Mahlon, married to Jane Bender, and William Bender, Jr., both of Lancaster, PA Viewing Service A viewing will be held on Wednesday evening, October 22, 2003, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM from our funeral home. The ceremony celebrating Josephine's life will be held on Thursday morning, October 23, 2003, at 11:00 AM, from our funeral home with The Reverend Mark J. Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Ephrata, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
