Leroy G. Wentzel, 88, of Denver, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, June 5th, 2024. Born in Clay Township, Leroy was one of 15 children to the late George and Florence (Hartranft) Wentzel. Leroy was also the loving husband to Shirley Ann (Shober) Wentzel until her passing in 1993.
Leroy worked as a manager for the Woodstream Corporation plant in Lititz until he retired in 1999. In his younger years, Leroy enjoyed racing stock cars on the local dirt track circuit. Later on in life he grew a passion for collecting antique garden tractors along with classic and antique automobiles. Known as a “mechanical genius” to his family, Leroy loved to spend his time working on his collection of antique garden tractors and classic cars. Leroy will be remembered by his family and friends for his tough, levelheaded, and problem-solving mind. He will be deeply missed.
Leroy is survived by two sons, David L. (C.J.) Wentzel & Michael K. (Marvetta) Wentzel, both of Lititz; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; and four sisters.
Along with his wife, Leroy is predeceased by one grandchild, one great-grandchild, and 10 siblings.
