Marguerite "Peggy" Elizabeth Young Buck of Erdenheim, Pennsylvania passed on November 15, 2021, surrounded by her beloved husband of 65 years, Paul S. Buck, and her three devoted children, Steven, Karen and Gregory. She was born on Christmas Day, 1931 and brought love and light into her family's lives throughout her almost 90 years. Nicknamed "Honey" from childhood due to her sweet disposition and smile, she was the cherished daughter of Elsie Young, sister to Dorothy, Walter, Robert and Eugene Young, sister-in-law to Dr. Ruth Buck, mother-in-law to Jennifer, Anthony and Amee, and grandmother to Jessica, Bianca, Justin and Alexander. Peggy was an avid gardener and camper, and loved the outdoors, finding the beauty in every season. She hiked almost every trail of the Wissahickon Valley with her rescue greyhound Sebastian by her side. She traveled and camped cross-country with her children and husband to remote corners of the U.S. and loved her family journeys to Scotland, Ireland, France, England, Germany and Switzerland. Peggy and Paul welcomed children from the Fresh Air program to their home and family. Her homemade lemon curd, ambrosia and cinnamon potato doughnuts were her specialties. A voracious reader, sometimes reading a book a day, Peggy also loved Masterpiece Theatre, Vivaldi and gospel music. She started her career at Eastman Kodak and worked in and out of the home throughout her life, was a whiz with numbers and organization and provided bookkeeping services for small and larger businesses throughout the region, as well as for elderly relatives. Peggy also worked as a sound technician on several educational documentary films with her filmmaker husband. She strongly embraced the principal rule of happiness to "Live Simply". With her husband Paul, she adopted the island of Vinalhaven, Maine as her second home for 50 summers and where they built a family cabin on the water's edge; she loved the island's rocky coasts, quiet tidal basins, swimming quarries, people and seabirds. Peggy has donated her body to medical science and a memorial service will be held in the new year. In lieu of flowers, good deeds to serve others or donations in her honor can be made to SeniorLAW Center or the Vinalhaven Land Trust.
