Nancy Bishop Risser

Nancy Bishop Risser, age 79, of Ephrata, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, died Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at 4:40 pm in Lancaster General Hospital, Lancaster, PA. Born in Lancaster, a daughter of the late Benjamin "Benny" Carl and Mary (Killian) Bishop, her husband of 54 years, James H. Risser, died October 22, 2011. An Ephrata High School graduate, Nancy received her Bachelor of Business Degree in 1956 from Elizabethtown College, from where her daughter, Ann, also graduated. She worked in Human Resources for Sperry New Holland and in early years for her father"s car dealership, Benny Bishop Chrysler Plymouth, Ephrata. A member of Bethany United Church of Christ, an over 50 year member of The Order of Eastern Star, and was an avid reader with membership in the Book Club Circle and volunteered at Ephrata Playhouse in the Park. She cherished her family and had a special relationship with her grandchildren. Surviving is her daughter, Ann Elizabeth, wife of Brian Vaughan Beal, Collegeville; and grandchildren, Shawn Nolan, Erin Alexandra and Delaney Katherine Beal. A memorial celebration of Nancy"s life will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2014, at 10 AM from Bethany United Church of Christ, 140 East Main Street, Ephrata, PA 17522, with Rev. Dr. James R. Haun officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends following the service. Private inurnment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Ephrata.
