Paul Mclaughlin

Paul B. McLaughlin, 78, of Stevens, passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at ProMedica of Sinking Spring. Born in Gassaway, Braxton County, WV, Paul was a son of the late Jake and Beulah (Brady) McLaughlin and the loving companion of Linda D. Donmoyer Grube for 18 years. Paul attended Gassaway High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran and while in the Army he served in Fort Knox, Germany and Orleans, France during the Vietnam wartime. Paul worked for the Carolina Phone Company for 20 years then moved to Pennsylvania to be closer to his extended family. He worked as a foreman for Asplundh, Wick's Lumber and Blainesport Tavern before retiring. As a young man, Paul enjoyed the outdoors and hunting. He loved country music, watching the Washington Redskins, and spending time with family at "Bull Run" in West Virginia. He was quiet, witty and enjoyed the simple things in life. To be in his presence was calming and he always had a smile to share. In addition to his companion, Linda, Paul is survived by two children, Paul Brady McLaughlin II of Stevens and Katy Jo McLaughlin of Fayetteville, NC; two brothers, Larry Steven McLaughlin (Donna Duncan-McLaughlin) of Pinch, WV and Richard Layne McLaughlin of Fayetteville, NC; one sister, and Lynn Etta McLaughlin of Hopeland; three granddaughters, Kelly, Emily, and Karin; a grandson, Dale and three great grandchildren. Paul loved Linda's children and grandchildren as his own - Alicia A. (Mark) Baldwin of Reading, Todd W. Gibb of Reading, and Brian S. Gibb of Pottsville, and Jack, Megan, Cortney, Colton & TJ. Paul was predeceased by four siblings, Marjolaine Sue DeBose, Donnis Blair Smith, James Everett McLaughlin, Billie Beckwith, and Kenneth Carl McLaughlin. A Celebration of Life reception will be held on Sun., Feb. 19th from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Reamstown Fire Co. hall, 12 W. Church St., Reamstown, Pa 17567.
