Robert D. Hess, 57, of Lititz, Warwick Township, passed away on Friday, August 16th, 2024, at Hospice & Community Care of Mount Joy. Born in Ephrata, Robert was the son of the late A. David Hess, Shelvia (Worley) Gentzler & stepfather, Robert Gentzler. He was the loving husband of Laurie Anne (Farmer) Hess for 36 years.
Rob graduated from Ephrata High School, class of 1985, and married his high school sweetheart, Laurie. Rob attended Vo-Tech for electrical training and worked as an electrician for Father & Son Electric, Pogue Electric, and spent several years self-employed. Rob worked at Lapp Electric for 31 years where he was a longtime valued employee, serving as an electrician then becoming General Manager for the last 10 or so years. As a jack of all trades, Rob’s favorite hobbies included working on cars, tinkering with home projects, and being the family handyman. Rob was a member of Middle Creek Church for 30 years and served as a Youth Advisor and was active in the Sunday School programs. He loved traveling, cruises and resorts were his favorites, and his annual Father/Son adventure with his son Rob. Rob loved to eat and found all occasions worthy of a meal. He enjoyed both home cooked meals and going out, and he loved sweets. He loved his family most of all. Rob was often planning the next trip with Laurie or making time for the grandkids. ‘Pops’ or ‘Popsy’ was his favorite title, and he had a special relationship with each of his grandchildren. Rob was known for his sarcastic fun humor and dry wit. He was hard working, took pride in that work, and was known for being “practical”. He will forever be known as loyal and generous.
Along with his wife, Robert is survived by four children, Amy Yoder (Joel) of Lititz;, Gina Martin (Cody) of Port Royal, Michelle Gehman (Jon) of Reinholds, and Rob P. Hess (Mikaila) of Mount Joy; ten grandchildren, Abel, Camille, Aaron, Shayla, Easton, Brooks, Ivy, Declan, June, Judah; ; two sisters, Kari Hulse (Craig) and Lori Zoll (Leon).
