Allegra H. Leininger

Allegra H. Leininger, age 85, of West Cocalico Township, Reinholds, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, died Friday, February 20, 2015. Born in Elizabethtown, Lancaster County, she was a daughter of the late Herman Geib and Maria Stauffer (Hollinger) Kreiner. Her husband of 66 years, Vernon J. Leininger, died December 9, 2014. A member and 40 year choir director at Mohler Church of the Brethren, Allegra was a devoted wife, mother & grandmother and worked beside her husband on the family farm. She was president of both PA Farm Women and Lancaster Farm Women Society #3, played piano & marimba for 75 years, and with The Ephrata Symphonic Arts Society. Needlepoint, counted cross-stitch, knitting, and doll making kept her busy; having 106 dolls displayed in her home. She was recognized by various organizations through the years for her craft & sewing talents. Her home-spun recipes & delicious cooking were also well known. Surviving is her daughter, Rose Ann Leininger, Cleveland, OH; sons, Philip C. (Connie Showers) Leininger, Ephrarta; & Michael K., married to Deborah Barry-Leininger, Denver; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and sister, Shirley H. Smith, Manheim. A son, David V. Leininger; grandson, Christopher Michael Leininger; sister, Faye H. Kreiner; & brother, Dale H. Kreiner, predeceased her. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Feb. 26, at 10 AM from Mohler Church of the Brethren, 21 E. Mohler Church Rd., Ephrata, PA 17522, with Rev. Carl L. Brubaker & Rev. Glen M. Faus officiating. Viewings will be Wednesday 6-8 PM and Thursday 9-10 AM from the church. Contributions may be made to the church.
