Allen B. Shirk

Allen B. Shirk, age 69, of West Cocalico Township, Reinholds, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, died at home on Saturday, July 19, 2014, at 7:00 AM with Hospice & Community Care assisting the family. Born in Martindale, Lancaster County, a son of the late Roy S. and Ida H. (Burkholder) Shirk, he was the husband of Emma L. (Behney) Shirk for 48 years. The would have celebrated their 49th anniversary on July 31. He had worked for Sealcrete, Akron, PA, and last with By The Book Painting & Wallcovering, Denver,PA. Allen volunteered with The Salvation Army, Reading, PA; was a life-member of Cushion Peak Rod & Gun Club; enjoyed hunting & fishing; and cherished family time, especially with his grandchildren, nieces & nephews. Also surviving is his daughter, Valerie A. (Dennis) Schmeck, Reinholds; sons, Gregory L. Shirk, Reinholds; and Jeffrey W. (April Ashby) Shirk, Ephrata; grandchildren, Taylor Allen Schmeck & Samantha J. Shirk; sisters, Annie (Harvey) Hoover, Ephrata; SueEtta (Luke) Zimmerman, Barnett, MO; & Lizzie, widow of Amos Shirk, Denver; and brothers, David (Geraldine) Shirk, Martinsburg; & Joseph (Ellen) Shirk, Newville. Brothers, LeRoy & Noah, predeceased him. A viewing will be held from Good Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, Reamstown, on Wednesday, July 23, from 1 " 3 PM with funeral services at 3 pm; Major & Mrs. Colin D.
