Alverta A. Fry

Alverta A. Fry, Denver, West Cocalico Township, Lancaster County, PA, peacefully passed from this life to the wonders and glories of heaven on September 24, 2014, at 6:25 PM, as she wished, in the home where she was born over 79 years ago and lived most of her life. The wife of Alvin E. Fry for 61 years in April, she was a daughter of the late David G. and Alma (Hainley) Nagle. A homemaker she also had worked at Cinderella Knitting Mill, Denver, PA, assisted her husband on the family farm, tended market stands and in early years milked cows on her uncle"s farm. She and Alvin volunteered in various ministries; cooking at a Strasburg, PA, farm for the Bowery Mission of New York City and securing & sending clothes for The Navajo Indians in New Mexico. Alverta was a member, organist (until 2 months ago) and former Sunday school teacher of Reinholds United Zion Church. She enjoyed reading, going to the mountains, talking with friends on the phone, and was a member of Snappy Snippers Sewing Group. Also surviving are daughters, Gail A. (David) Harting, and Aletha K. Aytche, both Denver; and Annette Y. Putt, Mt. Penn; grandchildren, Justin & Jordan Aytche, Ryan Harting, Nicholas, Alexandria, Kaylee, Isabella & Madeline Putt; sister, Chrys (Gary) Heck, Robesonia; and nieces & nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday, September 29, 2014, at 11 AM, from Good Funeral Home, Reamstown, with visitation 10-11 AM. Pastors Tim Bair and Leon Eberly will officiate. Burial will follow in Swamp Cemetery, Reinholds. At Alverta"s request the casket will be closed.
