Barbara L. Youndt

Barbara L. Youndt, age 83, formerly of Reamstown and Fivepointville, entered into rest on Sunday, April 8, 2018 at Ephrata Manor. The daughter of the late Mahlonand Dorothy (Fry) Leid, she was born at home on July 4, 1934, on Main Street, Reamstown. On December 9, 1950, she married James 'Jim' Youndt. They were entrusted with seven children: Rebecca, married to Randal Houser, Getha, married to Leon Douglas Loose, Lessley, married to Sandi (Belchick) Youndt, Allen, married toCarole (Stahl) Youndt, Andrew, married to Kim (Hess) Youndt, Phillip, married toTina (McCarty) Youndt, and Scott,married toJennifer (Lesagonicz) Youndt. Jim preceded her in death on August 26, 2016 after 66 years of a true and faithful marriage. They resided in their Fivepointville home for all 66 years. Barbara remained in their home until September 9, 2017, when shemoved to Ephrata Manor.Barbara was a dedicated member of Muddy Creek Lutheran Church from her birth until her death. She was a very active member, teaching Sunday school from Kindergarten through adult lecture classes, vacation Bible school, choir member, church council member. She was also an active volunteer as a Girl Scout leader, Food Bank coordinator, and board member through Ephrata Area Social Services. She was also a devoted care giver to many family members friends. Her greatest joy was their large family: seven children, sixteen grandchildren nineteen great grandchildren. The love shared at their annual family Christmas party was her greatest joy. Barbara is also survived by two brothers, M. Kent, married to Kay (Packer) Leid; andCraig F., married to Jan (Ficthorn) Leid. She lived her life according to John 15:5, I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit; for without me ye can do nothing. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 13, 2018, at 11 AM from Muddy Creek Lutheran Church, 11 South Muddy Creek Road, Denver, PA 17517. Private burial will follow in Muddy Creek Cemetery, Swartzville. The viewing will be Friday from 9:30 to 11 AM, at the church.
