Remembering Bernetha with Love... Bernetha Messner, 95, formerly of Denver , died Tuesday, March 9, 2010, in Ephrata Manor, Ephrata, where she resided since 1994. Born in Denver , a daughter of the late Herman M. and Emma S. (Enck) Althouse, her husband, Arthur W. "Jack" Messner, died February 20, 1970. A member, former Sunday school teacher and choir member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Denver , she retired in 1984 from Cocalico School District where she was a cafeteria worker. Bernetha was formerly active in the Order of Eastern Star, Golden Years Circle of Denver, Denver Fire Company and the Ladies of the Oriental Shrine of Reading. Surviving is a son, Jack (Linda) Messner, Hummelstown; grandchildren, Emily Piperato, and Rachel and Ben Messner; 3 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Kenneth Althouse. Private Graveside Service...Bernetha had preplanned private graveside services in Muddy Creek Cemetery , Swartzville.
