Byron L. Fritz, 85, of Adamstown, passed away on Wednesday, January 29th, 2025, at the Tower Health Reading Hospital. Born in West Reading, Byron was a son of the late Eugene and Ethyl (Bohanan) Fritz and was the loving husband to Virginia Lee (Wagner) Fritz for 60 years.
Byron graduated from Governor Mifflin High School. Raised in Adamstown, Byron started working for the Bollman Hat Company when he was in high school and grew in the business, eventually becoming the Vice President of production and retiring after 47 years. He and his wife were long time members of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Adamstown. Byron bred, raised, and ran beagles, competing in field trials throughout the country. Growing up in Adamstown, Byron dug into and fell in love with the town’s history. He was an avid sports fan, cheering on all Penn State University and Philadelphia teams. Byron and Virginia enjoyed camping in the summers and falls at Worlds End State Park and campgrounds near State College, Pennsylvania. Most of all, Byron loved connecting with people and getting to know their stories. He would talk to anyone and everyone, and he was always following up on those he got to know. His kind and generous heart will be deeply missed.
In addition to his wife, Byron is survived by Bradley L. Fritz of London, UK; and two brothers, Eugene Fritz Jr. (Mary) of Lancaster and Keith Fritz (Susan) of Reading.
