Catherine E. "Katie" Kring

Remembering "Katie" with Love... Catherine E. "Katie" Kring, age 103, formerly of Bowmansville, Lancaster County, PA, died Monday, December 26, 2011, in Zerbe Sisters Nursing Center , Narvon, Lancaster County, PA, where she resided since 2003. Born in Brecknock Township, Lancaster County, a daughter of the late Theodore F. and Mary Ann (Wise) Zerbe, her husband, William F. Kring, died January 16, 1966. Katie was the oldest member of St. Paul 's United Church of Christ and worked for Colonial Knitting Mill, Mohnton; Triple Z Hosiery, Bowmansville; for Dr. Wenger, Terre Hill; and as a nursing assistant and cook with Zerbe Sisters Nursing Center. She loved embroidery, flower gardening and gospel music. Surviving is a daughter, Nancy A. (Kring) Caffrey Schafer, wife of Nicholas G. Schafer, New Holland; grandchildren, Randy E. Kring, Rodney L. Kring, Danette L. Shelly and Daniel C. Caffrey, III; great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Jamie, Zachary, Morgan, Penn, Brooke, Mitchell and Andrew; newborn great-great-granddaughter, Olive Marie; and a sister, Ann (Zerbe) Good, Narvon. Also predeceased by sons, Wilbert A. and William E. Kring; sisters, Ellen Lorah, Dorothy and Helen Zerbe; and brothers, Harry, John and Jairus Zerbe. She will be dearly missed by her loving family! Service Information... Funeral services will be held Friday, December 30, at 2:00 pm from St. Paul 's United Church of Christ, Church Road, Bowmansville , PA 17508 , with The Reverend Christian B. Creyer and The Rev. Robert A. Witmyer officiating. Burial will be in Bowmansville Union Cemetery. Viewings will be held on Thursday from 6 to 8 pm from Good Funeral Home, Reamstown, and on Friday from 1 to 2 pm at the church.
