Charles E. Anderson

Charles E. Anderson, 94, of Ephrata, passed away on Monday, April 7th, 2025, at the Ephrata Manor. Born in York, Charles was a son of the late Charles W. and Pearl R. (Metzgar) Anderson. He was also the loving husband of Betty L. (Hammond) Anderson for 74 years as of March.

Charles was a 1948 graduate of William Penn Senior High School, and later earned his Permanent Teaching Certificate from Penn State University. Serving in the Penna Army National Guard for 25 years, Charles spent 14 of those years as a full time maintenance shop chief. After his time in the military, Charles taught auto mechanics at the Lancaster Co Vo-Tech School at Willow Street and Brownstown School for 17 years. He also spent 12 years as an Application Tech for KD Tools. Charles was a life member of Lion’s Club International Zion View, York, and Ephrata for 60 years. He was also a member of Hope United Methodist Church in Ephrata. Charles loved to support his family, friends, church, and community. His passionate and loving personality will be deeply missed.

Along with his wife, Charles is survived by two sons, Kenneth E. (Judy) Anderson; Dale (Sandra) Anderson; five grandchildren, Jennifer, Michael (Molly), Brian (Jessica), Kate (CJ), Rachel (Brett); two step grandchildren, Myranda (Tyler) and Caleb (Angela); three great-grandchildren, Cora, Marlowe, & Harris; and two brothers, Donald & Harold Anderson. Along with his parents, Charles is predeceased by sister, Barbara Kornbau and brother, Luke Anderson.

A visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 14th with a service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at Gravenor Sipler Funeral & Cremation Centre, Inc., 100 W. Main Street, Ephrata, PA 17522. Charles’ final resting place will be at the Brunnerville United Methodist Church Cemetery.
