Remembering Charles.. Charles E. Weber, 81, of 1009 Glen View Drive, Denver, Lancaster County, died Saturday afternoon, May 15, 2004, at 4:35 PM in Zerbe Sisters Nursing Center, Narvon, Lancaster County, where he was a guest since August 2003. Born in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Frank and Julia (Helm) Weber, and was the husband of Betty (Johnson) Weber for 53 years on June 10, 2003. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, New Holland, Lancaster County. A graduate of Holy Family High School, Roxbury (Philadelphia), he was a PA State Policeman for 29 years, retiring as sergeant in December 1975. Receiving his certificate for instruction from Penn State University, he was also a teacher and field instructor with the state police having taught all phases of police work to cadets at the State Police Academy, Hershey; Montgomery County Community College; and Ursinus College, Collegeville. While living in Florida following his retirement, he was a former president of the State of Florida Crime Prevention Association, served as a certified police officer in Palmetto, Florida; was the project director of crime prevention community relations in Palmetto, and the city safety commissioner 1977-1988. He also received a commendation from the Florida State Attorney General for his services. Weber was an Army veteran of World War II, having received 3 bronze stars serving in the European Theatre. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 37, Philadelphia. Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Dale (Weber), married to Steve Trievel, Pottstown, PA; 3 sons, Charles A., married to Shirley (Zern) Weber, Birdsboro, PA; Michael and Mark B. Weber, both at home; 3 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Anna, married to Francis Thomas, Conshohocken, PA. A brother, Joseph Weber, preceded him in death. Viewing Service A viewing will be held on Thursday morning, May 20, 2004, from 9:00 to 10:00 AM. The ceremony celebrating Charles' life will begin at 10:00 AM from our parlors with The Reverend Father John Schmalhofer as celebrant. Final commendation and farewell at Memory Gardens Mausoleum, East Cocalico Township, Lancaster County, PA.
