Remembering "Chet" with love... Chester R. "Chet" Hackman, 77, of 3 Meadowlark Drive, Stevens, Lancaster County, died Monday afternoon at 2:04 PM in Reading Hospital Medical Center, West Reading, Berks County, where he was a patient for the past week. Born in Ephrata Township, Lancaster County, he was a son of the late Rev. Charles M. and Emma R. (Rupp) Hackman, and was the husband of Mildred A. (Ansel) Mohn Hackman, for 17 years on December 26, 2002. He was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Denver. Hackman was employed for 38 years by Sperry-New Holland, now DNH, New Holland, Lancaster County, retiring in 1985. An army veteran of the Korean War, he was stationed in Germany, and was a life member of the Ephrata VFW and a 50 year member of the Ephrata American Legion Post #429. He was a member of Ephrata Lodge #665 Free Accepted Masons, the Rajah Shrine of Reading and the Scottish Rite of Reading Lancaster. He enjoyed public sales and was a member of the Reamstown Athletic Association. Surviving in addition to his wife are 2 daughters, Cheri L. (Hackman), married to John F. Yocklovich, Mt. Gretna, PA; and Beth A. (Hackman), married to Dean L. Witmer, Ephrata, PA; 2 sons, Michael J., married to Wilda L. (Rice) Hackman, Denver, PA; and David L., married to Robin L. (Horning) Hackman, Knauers, PA; 2 step-daughters, Phyllis A. (Mohn), married to Robert D. Reinhart, Gilbertsville, PA; and Gail E. (Mohn), married to Barry L. Tothero, Reamstown, PA; 9 grandchildren; 6 step-grandchildren; and 4 step-great-grandchildren; a sister, Edna (Hackman), married to Kenneth Stamy, Modesta, CA; and 2 brothers, Lloyd R., married to Elaine (Fake) Hackman, Akron, PA; and his twin, Charles R., married to Ruth Hackman, New Holland, PA. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Robert James Hackman. Viewing Service A viewing will be held on Thursday evening, November 6, 2003, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM from our funeral home. The ceremony celebrating Chet's life will be held on Friday morning, November 7, 2003, at 10:00 AM with his pastor, The Reverend Larry G. Hummer, officiating. Burial will follow in Middle Creek Brethren Cemetery, Ephrata Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
