Chester V. "Chet" Sweigart

Remembering "Chet" with Love... Chester V. "Chet" Sweigart, 90, of 305 E. Fulton St. , Ephrata, Lancaster County , died Thursday, Dec. 16 at home under the care of Hospice of Lancaster County. Born May 2, 1914, in E. Cocalico Twp., Lancaster County, he was a son of the late Charles F. and Jennie (Steffy) Sweigart, and was the husband of Myrtle M. (Burkhart) Sweigart for 61 years on January 23, 2004. A member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church , Ephrata, he was a 1932 granduate of Ephrata High School . An army staff sergeant he fought with 275th Armored Field Artillery Battalion at the Battle of the Bulge during World War II. Chet retired after over 50 years at the former Ephrata Shoe Co. He was a past adjutant of the Ephrata VFW and was a woodworker enjoyed hunting fishing. Surviving in addition to his wife is a son, Brian C. Sweigart, Ephrata; 2 daughters, Gail L. (David) Trate, Denver ; Penny D. (Douglas) Stick, Reinholds; 5 grandchildren, Melissa Gockley, Tami Dube', Theresa Clair, Adam Stick Kozette Zimmerman and 4 great-grandchildren. Viewing Service A viewing will be held on Sunday evening, December 19, 2004, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM from our parlors. The funeral service celebrating Chet's life will be held on Monday December 20, 2004, at 1:00 PM from our funeral home with his pastor, The Rev. Henry E. Herbener, officiating.Burial will follow in Memory Gardens, East Cocalico Township, Lancaster County, PA.
