Cora A. Martin

Remembering Cora with Love... Cora A. Martin, 93, of Ephrata, died August 6, 2009, in Ephrata Manor. Born in Phoenixville, a daughter of the late Rev. Albert J. and Anna (Geiser) Schankel, she was the wife of Mark Y. Martin for 72 years. A member of Grace E. C. Church, Akron , she was a longtime Sunday school teacher and choir member. Cora was a charter member of the Ephrata Christian Women's Club. She prepared taxes and was an agent for 40 years at H. G. Martin Real Estate, clerked sales with T. Glenn Horst Auctions for 35 years and co-owned and operated Cedar Crest Motel with her husband. Also surviving are daughters, Kay A. (Donald) Kurtz, Ephrata; Pearl E. (Dale) Weller, Lititz; and Dawn R. Fortna, Ephrata; daughter-in-law, Mary (Royer) Martin, Akron; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; and sister, Dorothy (Herbert) Barrett, NV. She was predeceased by a son, M. Dale Martin and 2 grandchildren. Viewing Funeral Service... Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 10, 2009, at 10:00 AM from Grace Evangelical Congregational Church, North Seventh and Fulton Streets, Akron , PA 17501-0235 , with The Rev. Ed Vondran and The Rev. Les Cool officiating. A viewing will be held at the church from 9:00 to 10:00 AM. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery , Ephrata. Cora requested that rather than flowers, contributions be sent to her church Memorial Fund (address above). Service details preplanned with Good Funeral Home, Reamstown.
