David Greer

July 8, 1953 — October 20, 2023

David A Greer, 70, of Adamstown, passed away peacefully in his home on Friday, October 20, 2023, after a 2-year courageous battle with cancer. Born in York, he was a son of the late Frank & B. Jeanne (Cramer) Greer and the loving and comedic husband of Laurie L. (Adam) Greer.David was a graduate of West York High School, class of 1971, where he played snare drum in the marching band and tympany in the concert band. He continued to play drums in his young adult years, playing in two local bands, The Racketts' and The Trim'. David believed in working hard and playing hard. As a young man, his nightwork included band gigs and his daywork included sales at the shoe store, Jarmen Brothers, in the Berkshire Mall and later referred to himself as the original Al Bundy'. He was a self-taught, skilled, computer technician and worked at the former Computer Land, Gilbert Commonwealth, and GAI-Tronics. Those who knew him can attest that he was a very positive person and could find laughter and silliness in the middle of aversity. He was proud of his son and was the mister-mom who took him sports practices and enjoyed seeing him play soccer and ice hockey. He loved his family deeply and had developed a special relationship with his granddaughter. He had a way of always making her laugh. He could brighten the day for anyone. He enjoyed the outdoors, photographed nature, played golf, ventured to the ski slopes in the winter and to the beach in the summer. He will be dearly missed, but with his inward faith and belief in Christ, his family is comforted that they will indeed see him again. In David's own words, 'we had one heck of a ride'.In addition to his wife, David is survived by a son, Collin D Greer, husband of Aubrey (Dietrich) of Maytown; a granddaughter, Emmarae Greer; and sister, Elizabeth Greer of York.A Celebration of Life service will be held on Sat, Oct. 28th at 11:30 a.m. in Good Sipler Funeral & Cremation Centre, Inc., 34 N Reamstown Rd., Reamstown (Stevens), Pa.
