Donald J. Hain, 89, of Denver, passed away Thursday, November 30, 2023. Born at home in Stevens, he was a son of the late Ralph S. and Elizabeth (Stricker) Hain on March 11, 1934. He was the loving husband of 67 years to Nancy J. (Hagy) Hain.
Donald was a graduate of Denver High School, class of 1952. A veteran, he served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Hornet Aircraft Carrier during the Korean Conflict. Donald was a dedicated member of Mellingers Lutheran Church for over 60 years, where he served as a Councilman, Financial Secretary, and Luther League leader. Donald worked in construction for many years, and he retired from Kalas Manufacturing in Denver in 1996. He was an avid woodworker, crafted furniture for his home and made special birdhouses which are displayed in his garden and inhabited by many feathered friends. Donald was a talented gardener and created an oasis of his own in the backyard where he enjoyed beautiful flowers every summer. Donald had a gentle and kind manner; he deeply loved his family and cherished his friendships.
In addition to his wife, Donald is survived by two children, Kathy (Hain) Arnold, wife of Brian Arnold, and Jeffrey A. Hain; seven grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Donald was predeceased by his brothers, Edwin, Ralph Jr., and Frederic Hain.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sat., Dec. 16th at 11 a.m. in Mellingers Lutheran, Church 80 Gockley Rd, Stevens, PA 17578. And in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mellingers Lutheran Church.
