Dorothea Gropper

Remembering Dorothea... Dorothea Gropper, 83, of 183 Fairway Drive, Denver, Lancaster County, formerly of East Meadow, NY, and Newtown, PA, died Wednesday morning, May 12, 2004, at 3:30 AM in Maple Farms Nursing Center, Akron, where she resided since September 2003. Born in Queens, New York, she was a daughter of the late William and Elizabeth (Schmidt) Gibson. Her husband, Herbert Gropper, died in May 1987. She was a graduate of Jamaica High School, Queens, NY, and was of the Methodist Faith. Mrs. Gropper was a baker for many years for Modell's Bakery, East Meadow, NY, and had worked earlier in the Chicklet Factory, Queens, NY. Surviving are 3 daughters, Elizabeth Gropper, Long Beach, NY; Barbara D., married to Kenneth Diehl, Denver, PA; and Rosalee C. Gropper, with whom she last resided; 3 grandchildren; 2 great-granddaughters; and a brother, James, married to Ellen Gibson, Melbourne, Florida. Visitation Service The family will receive friends on Friday evening, May 14, 2004, from 7:00 to 8:00 PM at our parlors. The service celebrating Dorothea's life will begin at 8:00 PM with hospice chaplain, The Reverend Sandra L. Morris, officiating.
