Dr. Richard Hardwick Kimball, age 93, of Ephrata Borough, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, died Monday, July 27, 2015, at 7:22 PM in the Mt. Joy Hospice Center. Born in Portland, Maine, a son of the late William W. and Helen (Hardwick) Kimball, Sr., his wife of 61 years, Joan I. (McLeod) Kimball, died January 17, 2014. Richard was vice-president of Prudential Insurance Co., Newark, New Jersey, and a professor at Rutgers University. He received his masters degree and his PhD from New York University and was World War II Navy veteran. Richard was a member of Bethany United Church of Christ, Ephrata, an avid golfer and cherished his family. Surviving is his daughter, Debra A., married to D. Robert Thompson, Ephrata; his son, William W. Kimball, married to Dennis Grundlock, Provincetown, Massachusetts; 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Brothers, William W. Kimball, Jr. and Col. George E. Kimball, predeceased him. A memorial celebration of Richard's life will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2015, at 10:30 AM from Bethany United Church of Christ, 140 East Main Street, Ephrata, PA 17522, with The Rev. William J. LaSalle officiating. Inurnment will follow in Bethany Cemetery, Ephrata Township. Rather than flowers, contributions may be sent to Hospice & Community Care, Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604, and to his church at the above address.
