Remembering Ed With Love... Edward D. Rodgers, Jr., 75, of 1 Mockingbird Drive, Denver, Lancaster County, PA, formerly of Broomall, died Sunday morning at 5:50 AM in his residence under the care of Hospice of Lancaster County. His death followed a 5 month illness. Born in New Cumberland, he was a son of the late Edward D. Rogers, Sr., and Winifred (Fegan) Rodgers, and was the husband of Mary (Frownfelter) Rodgers for 51 years on April 16, 2003. He was a member and former deacon of Peace United Church of Christ, Swartzville, Lancaster County, and had been a member of Bellmont Baptist Church, Broomall. Ed was a 1946 graduate of New Cumberland High School and graduated from the Chicago Technical College. Retiring in 1987, he was employed as an electrical engineer and sales person for 37 years with ASEA Boveri, Philadelphia, formerly ITE Imperial. Rodgers was a Navy veteran of World War II having been aboard a submarine in the South Pacific. He was a member and 2nd vice-president of the East Cocalico Lions Club, Reamstown. Surviving in addition to his wife are 2 daughters, Patricia R. (Rodgers), married to W. Kenneth Bradford, Roanoke, VA; and Marianne E. (Rodgers), married to Daniel F. Little, Denver, PA; 3 grandchildren; and 3 brothers, Thomas, married to Doreen Rodgers, Elk Grove, IL; Joseph, married to Dolores Rodgers, and Cornelius, married to Carol Rodgers, both of New Cumberland, PA. Viewing Services A viewing will be held on Saturday morning, February 7, 2004, from 9:00 to 11:00 AM from our parlors. The service remembering Ed's life will begin at 11:00 AM with his pastor, The Reverend William E. Hoch, officiating. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall of Peace United Church of Christ, 37 East Swartzville Road, Denver, PA 17517.Following cremation, a graveside inurnment service will be held on Tuesday afternoon, February 10, 2004, at 1:00 PM from Muddy Creek Cemetery, Swartzville, Lancaster County, PA.Contributions...The family requests that rather than flowers, please remember Ed with contributions to Hospice of Lancaster County, Post Office Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125. Their assistance to the family during his final weeks was so greatly appreciated.
