Ellen Mary (Lohan) Moran, 88, of Ephrata, passed away at her home, with her daughter and granddaughter at her side, on Friday, November 22nd, 2024. Born in Galway, Ireland, Ellen was a daughter of the late Thomas F & Mary J (Kelly) Lohan, and the loving wife of William P. Moran for 53 years until his passing in 2013.
Ellen moved to the United States when she was 17 years old. After marrying William, Ellen became a devoted wife and mother, growing and nurturing her family that she adored. Ellen was a longtime member of the Our Mother of Perpetual Help (OMPH) Catholic Church and was a member of the Legion of Mary for many years and The Yearlings. She was also a volunteer for the Red Cross. Ellen enjoyed reading, painting ceramics, listening to all kinds of music, and shopping in her free time. She loved to travel, from family road trip, cruises with her husband, bus trips, and even fun trips out to the casino. She loved being a grandparent and watching her grandchildren grow. Ellen was strong willed, confident, giving, and always willing to listen. She gave anything she could to anyone who may be in need. Ellen was a devoted wife who gave all of her heart to her husband whom she cared for at the end of his life. Her heart and compassion will be deeply missed.
Ellen is survived by son, Bill G., husband of Sue Moran, of Olney, MD; two daughters, Virginia, wife of Wayne Barr, of Lebanon, PA and Alana Moran of Ephrata, PA, partner of Christopher Booth, of Millersville, PA; grandchildren, Kevin Yrizzary, Claire, Will Moran, and Lasarina Booth; and sister, Nuala Walsh. She was preceded in death by her sister, three brothers, and her eldest daughter Julia A Moran.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at O.M.P.H. Church, 320 Church Ave., Ephrata, PA on Friday, November 29th, starting at 11:00 a.m. Ellen’s final resting place will be next to her husband at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Ephrata.
