Ellis F. Martzall, age 94, formerly of Denver, died Sunday, February 10, 2013, in Ephrata Manor. Born in West Cocalico Township, a son of the late Samuel M. and Stella R. (Fisher) Martzall, his wife, Eleanor J. (Sweigart) Martzall, died December 24, 1994. Ellis attended White Oak and East Cocalico Vocational Schools and was a World War II Army veteran serving in Germany and the Philippines. A member of Swamp Christian Fellowship, Reinholds, he enjoyed auctions, fishing in Canada and Lake Erie, & snow mobiling in NY and Canada. Founder and president of E. F. Martzall, Inc., a Reinholds general construction company, he retired in 1989. Ellis was an 18 year chairman of West Cocalico Board of Supervisors, past president of Berks County Home Builders Association & life member of Reinholds Fire Company. Active in Lions International since becoming a member of Denver Lions Club in 1953 where he served as president; was the charter president of Reinholds Lions Club 1965-66; a Melvin Jones Fellow recipient; District 14-D Governor 1975-76; and served many district committees; also, a member of Ephrata Lodge #665 F Rajah Shrine Club and past reception committee president. Surviving are daughters: Ernestine M. (Larry L.) Gensemer; and Estella F. (John A.) Reich; both Reinholds; grandchildren: Stephanie Benne, Denver; Lewis Gensemer, Reinholds; Anita (Scott) Lied, Stevens; Audrey (Vince) Lafferty, Denver; Kurt (Christine) Reich, and Kent (Meredith) Reich, both Reinholds; great-grandchildren: Brandi (Andrew) Powell; Ashley Gensemer; Kayla (Joe) Shindle; Kelcey Benne; Olivia, Margot & Savannah Lied; Joshua, Jordan & Alyssa Wingenroth; Dustin, Nicholas & Danielle Reich; great-great-grandchildren: Ethan, Violet & Alexander; and brothers: Alvin, Akron; Chester, Ephrata; & Harlan, Reinholds. He was predeceased by a sister, Kathryn Stahley. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 16, 2013, at 10:00 am from Good Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, Reamstown, with Pastor M. Craig Snow officiating. Burial will follow in Swamp Cemetery, Reinholds. Viewings will be Friday 6-8 PM and Saturday 9-10 AM.
