Remembering Ernestine with love... Ernestine G. DeSimone, 91, formerly of 52 Green Street, New Britain, Connecticut, and resided in Lancaster County since 2000, died Tuesday evening at 6:53 PM in Fairmount Homes, West Earl Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, where she resided since December 4, 2003. She was born in Middletown, Connecticut, a daughter of the late Angelo and Maria (Poncini) DeSimone. A member of Saint Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, New Britain, Connecticut, she was a former choir member and member of the rosary guild. She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella of St. Mary's Parish in New Britain.. Miss DeSimone was employed for 27 years as a secretary for the former Community Chest, now United Way, New Britain, CT. Previously employment was with the Avon School for the Blind during World War II in New Britain. She was also a volunteer at the Jerome Home, an assisted living center in New Britain. Ernestine was a graduate of Moody's Secretarial School, Hartford, CT, and had taken voice lessons in Hartford. Known for her beautiful singing voice she was a member of the New Britain Choral Society. Politically active, she was an avid campaign worker, enjoyed playing golf and rug hooking. Surviving is a sister, Margaret M. Morel, Lancaster, PA, and several nieces and nephews. Viewing Service A viewing will be held from our parlor on Saturday, January 3, 2004, from 2:30 to 3:00 PM. A Catholic Prayer Service will be celebrated at 3:00 PM with Father John Schmalhofer officiating from Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, New Holland, PA. Final Commendation Farewell will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, 1309 Stanley Street, New Britain, Connecticut 06051, on Tuesday morning, January 6, 2004, at 11:00 AM.
