Evelyn M. Shade

Evelyn M. Shade, 82, of Lititz, passed away on Tuesday, April 1st, 2025, at the WellSpan Community Hospital of Ephrata. Born in Ephrata, Evelyn was a daughter of the late Clyde E. and Ruth L. (Showalter) Wingenroth, and the loving wife to Robert C. Shade for 53 years until his passing in 2018.

Evelyn was a 1961 graduate of Cocalico High School. She worked as an administrative assistant for Fleur DeLait, later retiring in 2005. Evelyn was a lifetime member of Mellingers Lutheran Church and volunteered her time as a Sunday School teacher. Evelyn enjoyed traveling, especially to the beach, reading, and spending time with her family. Her love and support to her family, friends, and church family will be deeply missed.

Evelyn is survived by one daughter, Diane R. (Troy) Adair of Denver; son, Duane R. Shade of Hockessin, DE; two grandchildren, Brittany R. (Dennis) Hartlove of Ephrata and Kelsey E. (Jonathan) Hogan of Ephrata; five great-grandsons, Benjamin R. Hartlove, Elijah J. Hogan, Lucas A. Hartlove, Noah A. Hogan & Jonah J. Hogan; sister, Martha J. (Gerald) Petery of Lititz; three brothers, Melvin (Vicky) Wingenroth and Howard (Geraldine) Wingenroth of Reading and Allen (Cindy) Wingenroth of Gap.

A visitation will be held on Friday, April 11th from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with a celebration of life service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at Mellingers Lutheran Church, 80 Gockley Rd, Stevens, PA 17578. Evelyn’s final resting place will be at Mellingers Cemetery.
