Fern Arlene Sweigert

Fern Arlene Sweigert, age 88, of Beattyville, Kentucky, died Monday, May 5, 2014, in Kentucky River Medical Center, Jackson, KY. She was born in Mohnton, Berks County, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late Parke and Brita (Wingenroth) Sweigert and devoted her life at age 22 to serving as a missionary through Canyon Falls Evangelical Congregational Church. Teaching school for over 50 years, holding various positions in the church and encouraging others to know Jesus Christ and serve God was Fern"s quest. She worked closely with her lifelong friend and co-educator, the late Pauline Horst. Her missionary work was supported by the congregation of Grace Evangelical Congregational Church, Ephrata. Surviving is a sister, Marion, wife of Chet Ensinger and a brother-in-law, Mark R. Gehr, widower of her sister, Eva Ann Gehr, both of Ephrata. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2014, at 10 AM from Good Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, Reamstown, with The Rev. Jeff Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Lincoln Cemetery, Ephrata, PA. Viewings will be on Monday from 6 to 8 pm and Tuesday immediately prior to the service.
