Frank

Francis W. ‘Frank’ Smith, 69, of Lancaster, formerly of Ephrata, passed away Sunday, December 3, 2023. Born in Ephrata, Frank was a son of the late Frank W. Guido and Sylvia (Hufford) Kochel. Raised by his mother, Sylvia and stepfather, Edward Smith, Frank was a graduate of Ephrata High School, class of 1972. He was the devoted husband to Robin J. (Barnett) Smith for 36 years.

Frank was a U.S. Air Force veteran and proudly served during the Vietnam War. For over 30 years, Frank was a talented Mechanic and became a Shift Lead at Dart Container in Leola, then retired in 2020. Frank had a passion for NASCAR and enjoyed attending races in the Poconos and Dover. He was a fan of the Philadelphia Eagles, cheering them on with unwavering enthusiasm. Frank also found solace and joy in riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, exploring the open road with a spirit of adventure. Frank loved dogs, particularly German Shepherds. He was known to be the life-of-the-party which brought on the fun title of 'Frank the Tank', which we thoroughly enjoyed. He had a vibrant personality, and his infectious laughter would bring smiles all around. Frank had a zest for life and deeply loved his family.

In addition to his wife, Frank is survived by a son, Derek P. Smith (Kelly Schwarz) of Pottstown; a brother, Eric Smith of Ephrata; and his two German Shepherds, Sasha and Sport.

A visitation will be held on Fri., Dec. 8th from 4:30 to 5:00 p.m. at Gravenor Sipler Funeral & Cremation Centre, Inc., 100 W Main St., Ephrata and a Time of Sharing will begin at 5:00 p.m.
