Frida A. Barbernitz, age 87, formerly of Denver, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania,died peacefully on Thursday, December 8, 2016, at Country Meadows, Wyomissing. Born in Reading, Berks County,a daughter of the late Franz and Frida (Rchner) Holzapfel, her husband, Peter M. Barbernitz, died July 7, 2006. She was a graduate of Catholic High School of Baltimore and received her Associate Degree from Penn State. A member of St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church, she was the former owner-operator of Busy Bee Enterprises, Akron, OH. Traveling, gardening and feeding birds made her happy. Surviving: daughter, Mary, married to Jon Carrado, Chicago,IL; sons, Peter M. Barbernitz, Jr., married to Linda Pescarmona, Silver Spring, MD; Thomas F., married to Judy (Estep) Barbernitz, Mississippi; Mark J., married to Martha (Albanese) Barbernitz, Scranton; 10 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; sister, Mary Selleck; brother, Albert, married to Patty Holzapfel. A daughter, Anne Hughes, sister, Elsie Walter, predeceased her. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Monday, December 12, at 1 pm from St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church, 2810 Saint Albans Drive Sinking Spring, PA 19608. Private entombment will be in The St. George's Chapel of Gethsemane Cemetery Mausoleum. Rather than flowers, contributions in Frida's memory may be sent to Delaware Valley Golden Retriever Rescue, 60 Vera Cruz Rd., Reinholds, PA 17569.
