Gary P. Hertzog, 60, of Adamstown, passed away Monday, April 22, 2024, at the TowerHealth Reading Hospital in West Reading. Born in Ephrata, Gary was the son of Earl K. Hertzog and Geraldine (Hertzog) Crawford and the loving husband to Diane L. (Johnston) Hertzog for 31 years.
Gary grew up in Adamstown. He worked in the trucking industry for most of his life starting with the former Sunline Coach Company out of Denver, Freightliner of Lancaster, Levan Machine & Truck Equipment where he was parts manager, and worked in the parts department for Garden Spot Frame & Alignment. He enjoyed attending dirt track races, an interest that began in his youth and carried on to his boys. Gary loved traveling and camping with his family, each vacation was a new adventure. He loved his family deeply, with few words and his quiet presence, he was a great dad and loyal husband. His family always knew that dad was in their corner, always supportive and encouraging. He was also a great dog-dad, to his goldendoodle, Tucker. Gary was selfless and giving, always available to help others, and to lend a listening ear. In addition to his wife and parents, Gary is survived by his step-father Donald Crawford and two sons, Ryan A. Hertzog and Tyler N. Hertzog both of Adamstown.
Visitation will be held on Sun., Apr. 28th from 1 to 2 p.m. at Peace UCC Church, 37 E Swartzville Road, Denver, PA 17517 and the memorial service will begin at 2 p.m.
