George Chapman

Remembering George with Love... George Chapman, aged 87, of Ephrata, died Friday, April 24, 2009, at 11:15 PM in Hospice of Lancaster County - Mt. Joy, PA. Born in New York , NY , a son of the late George and Emma (Black) Chapman, he grew up in New Haven , Connecticut, and was the husband of Myrtle (Kundert) Chapman for 67 years. George was an Army Corporal during World War II and worked for Remington Arms as a draftsman by day, while going to school at night to achieve his engineering degree. An avid sportsman, he coached baseball and basketball, was an accomplished skeet shooter, movie buff, loved cars and visiting Peabody Museum of Yale University. He worked for IBM in New York and Kentucky and was a consultant for HammerTek Corporation, Landisville, PA. Also surviving is a daughter, Lorrie K. (David) Hunter, Leola; sons, George Douglas (Esther) Chapman, Hellam; Bruce (Catherine) Chapman, Pleasant Shade, TN; and Scott William (Colleen) Chapman, State College; 15 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by siblings Annabelle and William Andrew. Private Viewing Service...The family will have a private viewing followed by private graveside services with military honors by Topton American Legion Post in Pleasant View Cemetery , Sinking Spring, PA 19608.
