Gladys P. Smeltz, 100, of Luther Acres, formerly of Gordonville, passed away Wednesday, April 27th, 2022. Born in Gap, she was a daughter of the late William & Lena (Feister) Porter and the loving wife to Paul W. Smeltz until his passing in 2016. Gladys was a long-time member of the St. Michael's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Strasburg where she enjoyed being a Sunday school teacher and singing in the choir. She made exquisite tapestries of needlework and embroidery. Gladys was also a talented musician, she played strings, banjo, and piano in the former Ray Akolf warm up group in Rising Sun, MD. Most of all Gladys loved caring for her family, raising her children, and being a grandmother. Her long independent life of love and generosity is a legacy to her family. Gladys is survived by two children, Paul Smeltz (Holly) of Lititz and Beverly Edwards (Ted) of Fuquay Varina, NC; five grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, Gladys was predeceased by three siblings. Services are private and Glady's final resting place is St. John's United Methodist Church Cemetery, Paradise.
