Guyula (Zerbe) Sweigart Seifrit, age 98, of Ephrata, passed away on Thursday, November 2, 2023. She was born in Brecknock Township, Lancaster County, the daughter of Joseph P and Edna M (Kramer) Zerbe. Guyula was first married to Richard W. Sweigart until his passing in 1994, and later married Ammon F. Seifrit until his passing.
She was a lifetime member of Muddy Creek Lutheran Church. She raised her family in Swartzville before eventually moving to Ephrata. Guyula was a factory worker for the silk mill in New Holland until her retirement in 1970. She also worked part-time as an escort for oversized vehicles. For 20 years, Guyula lived in Florida, enjoying the sunshine and warm weather. She had a passion for CB radio and was widely known by her handle, "Midnight Blonde." She was a member of several CB radio clubs, where she connected with others who shared her interest. Guyula had a vibrant personality and was known for lighting up a room. She loved being the center of attention and never failed to bring joy to every crowd she encountered. She was often recognized for her choice of footwear, frequently seen wearing boots, and her signature cowgirl hat added to her unique style. Guyula (Zerbe) Sweigart Seifrit will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Her legacy of bringing happiness and laughter to those around her will be cherished forever.
Guyula is survived by a son, Richard W. Sweigart Jr. (Linda) of Lancaster; a daughter, Gail A. Buffenmyer of Ephrata; five grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; and a sister, Dorothy Anderson. Guyula was predeceased by six siblings, Chester Zerbe, John Zerbe, Sallie Haldeman, Clayton Zerbe, Shirley Jenks Seifrit, and William Zerbe. Guyula was predeceased by a son, Wayne A. Sweigart.
A Viewing will be held on Thurs., Nov. 9th from 6 to 8 p.m. and Fri., Nov. 10th from 10 to 11 a.m. at Gravenor Sipler Funeral & Cremation Centre, 100 W. Main St., Ephrata, and the Funeral Service will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday followed by interment at Muddy Creek Cemetery, Denver, Pa.
