Harold R. Good, 91, formerly of Fivepointville, a resident of Garden Spot Village, New Holland, passed away Saturday, December 30, 2023. Born in Bowmansville, Harold was a son of the late Peter S. & Carrie M. (Redcay) Good and the loving husband of 61 years to Barbara (Smith) Good until her passing in 2020.
Harold was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and served in the U.S. Air Force. He worked for Gulf Oil Corp in Bowmansville for six years then for Youndt Brothers in Fivepointville, retiring after 33 years. His community was always important to him. He served as former Brecknock Township Supervisor for 10 years. Harold was also actively involved with the Howell Masonic Lodge #405 of Honeybrook, he was a 32-degree and past president of the Reading Consistory, past president of the Rajah Clowns and Rajah Shriners. A man of faith, Harold also served in his church as treasurer, former deacon, and elder at St. Paul’s UCC in Bowmansville. In retirement, he worked part-time for the Hawk Valley golf course, enjoying an occasional round of golf. He also enjoyed playing cards, bowling, and attending his grandchildren’s sporting and horse events. His family was most important to him. He leaves a legacy of selflessness and generosity.
Harold is survived by five daughters, Judi Gensemer Bachman (Steve Loewen), Donna Gensemer Ozga (Steve), Gloria Sandoe (Timothy), Patti Waltz (Kevin), Jo Kerek (Steve), eight grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Harold was predeceased by his son, Bruce R. Gensemer and siblings, Myrle Good, Harvey Good, Anna Bixler, Catherine Youndt, & Ralph Good.
A visitation will be held on Fri. Jan. 5th from 10 to 11a.m. at St. Paul’s UCC Church, 33 Church St., Bowmansville, and a memorial service with military honors will begin at 11a.m. in church.
