Remembering Hazel with Love... Hazel V. Althouse, 85, formerly of Denver , died March 29, 2011, in Ephrata Community Hospital . Born in East Cocalico Township , a daughter of the late Virgil and Edith M. (Maxton) Coldren, her husband, Harry O. Althouse, died February 28, 1998. A member of Salem Lutheran Church , Ephrata, she was a former member of Muddy Creek Lutheran Church , where she sang in the choir, and St. John's UCC, Denver, where she was superintendent and teacher of Sunday school. Hazel had been a member of the Order of Eastern Star and was a den mother with the Cub Scouts. Her employment was with Cinderella Knitting Mills and Kinder Manufacturing, Denver . Surviving is a son, Edgar O. (Janet B. Scranton) Althouse, York; daughter, Judy K. (Jim O.) Hackman, Reinholds; 4 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Bea L. (Clyde) Ebersole, Ephrata; and L. Mignetta (William) Burkhart, Denver . She was predeceased by a brother, Virgil "Buddy" Coldren, Jr. Viewings Funeral Service... Funeral services will be Saturday, April 2, 2011, at 11:00 AM from Good Funeral Home Cremation Centre, Reamstown. with The Rev. Jeffrey H. Goodman officiating. Burial in Muddy Creek Cemetery , Swartzville, PA. The viewing will be one hour prior to the service. Contributions to Hospice of Lancaster County , Box 4125 , Lancaster , PA 17604-4125 .
