Helen A. Eberly, 96, formerly of Ephrata, PA, passed away on Sunday, November 18, 2018 at The Gardens at Stevens. Her husband, the late Milton F. Eberly passed away September 13, 1982. Helen was born in Ephrata, daughter of the late Phares and Mary (Miller) Buch. She was a member of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lincoln-Ephrata, PA and worked as a drug store clerk for many years before retiring at the age of 82. Helen was a longtime school crossing guard in Lincoln and was known as "Helen On-The-Hill." She was also a member of the Lincoln Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary. At one time an avid golfer, Helen was a member of the Lebanon Valley Golf Club. Helen is survived by two children: Lamar "Sonnie" Eberly (Wilma) of Lititz, PA and Pamela Levering (David) of Harrisburg, PA; three grandsons: Robert Bartholomew (Michelle), Chad Eberly, and Brandon Bartholomew (Michelle); four great-grandchildren: Cody Eberly (Erica), Kirsten Eberly, Brianna Bartholomew, and Gavin Bartholomew; and great-great-granddaughter, Raegan Eberly. Also surviving is a sister, Pauline Matthews (John); sister-in-law, Betty Buch; brother-in-law: Stanley Devonshire; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Helen was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Alec Bartholomew; and four siblings: Ethel Sweigart, Pearl Eberly, Mary Jane Devonshire, and Clarence "Jack" Buch. Friends will be received at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1331 West Main Street Ephrata, PA 17522 on Friday, November 23, 2018 from 9:00-10:00 a.m. Funeral services officiated by the Rev. Jeffrey Goodman will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by interment at Lincoln Cemetery. The family wishes to thank all those who cared for Helen at The Gardens at Stevens.
