Remembering Helen with Love... Helen M. Yecker, 96, formerly of Ephrata, Lancaster County, died Wednesday afternoon, May 12, 2004, at 2:55 PM in Fairmount Homes - Wheat Ridge, Farmersville, Lancaster County, where she resided for the past 5 1/2 years. Born in Martindale, Lancaster County, she was a daughter of the late John Weidler and Annie (Martin) Buch. She was a 1923 graduate of Terre Hill High School and attended Lancaster Business College. Helen was the oldest member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Akron, Lancaster County. She was previously a long-time member of Bergstrasse Evangelical Lutheran Church, Ephrata, where she was the first female council member. Retiring in 1977, Mrs. Yecker was the personnel manager for 39 years at the former Walter W. Moyer, Inc., Ephrata, having been hired personally by W. W. Moyer out of business college. She was also instrumental in the setup of their former factory in Tempe, Arizona. Surviving are 3 daughters, Joan B. (Yecker), married to Earl R. Weaver, Akron, PA; Martha Y. (Yecker), married to James V. Fulmer, Lancaster, PA; and Helen B. (Yecker), married to Jacob I. Burkholder, Jr., Ephrata, PA; 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by an infant son and 2 sisters, Blanche (Buch) McKirachan Wright and Lillian (Buch) Gehman. Viewing Service A viewing will be held on Monday morning, May 17, 2004, from 9:00 to 10:00 AM at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 435 Main Street, Akron, PA 17501. The ceremony celebrating Helen's life will begin at 10:00 AM with her pastor, The Rev. H. James Tanner, officating. Burial will follow in Bergstrasse Cemetery, Ephrata Township, Lancaster County, PA.The family has requested that flowers not be sent, however, you may remember Helen with contributions to Schreiber Pediatric Rehabilitation Center of Lancaster County, 625 Community Way, Lancaster, PA 17603.
