Helen R. Ludke, 102, of Lititz, passed away on Monday, July 29th, 2024, at Luther Acres Manor in Lititz. Born in Reading, Helen is a daughter of the late Paul & Violet (Butler) Redcay. She was the loving wife of the late Elwood R. Ludke for 57 years until his passing in 2001.
Growing up in Ephrata, Helen was an Ephrata high school graduate of 1940, and then graduated in 1944 from Kutztown University with a bachelor's degree in education. Helen taught 3rd grade at the former Washington Avenue School in Ephrata for over 20 years until she retired. She was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. Helen was a talented seamstress and avid quilter, making sure her family members all have their own homemade quilts. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her family and friends; her kindness and friendships will be deeply missed.
Survived by two children, David R. Ludke of LaGrange, KY and Christine J. Ludke of Virginia Beach, VA; grandchildren Sarah H. Darrow, John Thomas Lee, and Daniel Wayne Lee; a great grandchild, Elizabeth L. Darrow. Predeceased by a daughter, Janet Lee; a sister, Grace Georgiadis; and a daughter-in-law, Pam Ludke.
Services will be private.
Helen's final resting place is in Memory Gardens, Ephrata.
