Horace S. Eshelman

Remembering Horace... Horace S. Eshelman, 89, of 24 North Church Street , Ephrata, Lancaster County , died Friday, April 15, 2005, at 1:00 AM in Ephrata Manor, 99 Bethany Road , Ephrata Township , where he was a resident for the past year. Born April 3, 1916, in Reading , Berks County , he was a son of the late Barton R. and Margaret E. (Shirk) Eshelman, and was the husband of Mildred (Bishop) Eshelman for 64 years on April 13th. A member of Bethany United Church of Christ, Ephrata, he was also a former member of the choir, church consistory, elder and deacon. He had been a 64 year member of various church choirs. Retiring in 1986, he owned and operated Eshelman's Service Center , Hinkletown, Lancaster County . A Rawley Products dealer and saleman, he also worked at Warner Lambert, Lititz; Dutchmaid, Inc., Ephrata; Berkshire Knitting Mills, Wyomissing; was a toll collector at Exit 21 PA Turnpike; and last as a census worker for the Ephrata and Garden Spot School Districts . Horace was a 1933 graduate of Terre Hill High School . Also surviving: daughter, Eileen L. Eshelman, Ephrata; sons, Carl C., husband of Celeste (Fink) Eshelman, Akron ; J. Pat, husband of Sheila (Mosako) Eshelman, and Neil H. Eshelman, both of Ephrata; grandchildren, Patricia, Michelle, Jennifer Jeff; great-grandchildren, Lauren, Kelly Cody. He was preceded in death by a son, Phillip H. Eshelman, in 1961. Viewing Service A viewing will be held on Monday evening, April 18, 2005, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM from Good Funeral Home Cremation Centre, Inc., Reamstown, and also at the church Tuesday, April 19, 2005 from 9:30 to 10:00 AM. Services will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2005, at 10 AM from Bethany United Church of Christ, 140 East Main Street, Ephrata, PA 17522, with his pastor, The Rev. Mark J. Johnson, officiating. Burial in Terre Hill Cemetery , Terre Hill, Lancaster County .
