Hugh W. Cameron

Hugh W. Cameron, age 95, Denver, Lancaster County,PA,formerly of Mattapan, MA, died Tuesday, April 24, 2007, in his home under the care of his daughters and Hospice of Lancaster County. He resided in Pennsylvania sind 2002. Born in Boston, MA, he was a son of the late Hugh and Catherine (McCabe) Cameron. His wife, Kathleen (McGaffigan) Cameron, died in 1987. A member of Our Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Ephrata, he was a graduate of Hyde Park High School, Hyde Park, MA. Hugh was employed as a printer-compositor with the American Register for many years, and completed his career in the 1960's with the Boston Herald Newspaper. He loved traveling, especially to the Atlantic City casinos to play the slots and bingo. A Florida "snow bird" he loved Disney World and was a lifetime Boston Red Sox fan, reveling in their World Series victory. A proud father and grandfather, he remembered every birthday and made them special. Surviving are his daughters, Helen, wife of Wiliam McDonough, Denver, PA; and Kathleen L., wife of Martin Cahill, Wareham, MA; 6 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and sisters-in-law, Alice and Ann Cameron. He was predeceased by a sister, Agnes Oberlander, and 4 brothers, Richard, Daniel, Paul and Joseph Cameron. A memorial mass - celebration of Hugh's life was held Wednesday, June 27, 2007, at 10 AM from St. Theresa's Catholic Church, West Roxbury, MA. Inurnment was in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Boston (Mattapan), MA.
