Ivan W. Weitzel

Ivan W. Weitzel, age 91, formerly of Denver, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, died Wednesday, July 12, 2017, at 4:43 pm in Conestoga View, Lancaster. Born in Brecknock Towsnhip, Lancaster County, a son of the late Howard K. Weitzel and Florence (Fritz) Weitzel Lesher, he was married 69 years to the late Helen (King) Weitzel, who died September 30, 2013. A Navy veteran of World War II, he was a carpenter with Kurtz Precast (later High Concrete), Denver. Ivan was a member of Swamp Christian Fellowship Church, Reinholds; life member of Reinholds VFW and the Reinholds Fire Company. A great pitcher in his day, he was an avid baseball fan and played in the Ephrata Legion and Reinholds softball leagues. He also enjoyed hunting. Surviving is his son, Robert L., married to Sharon J. (Steffy) Weitzel, Robesonia; brothers, Frederick S. Lesher, and Kenneth J., married to Nancy (Zell) Lesher, all of Denver. He was also predeceased by his step-father, Roy R. Lesher; grandson, Jesse L. Weitzel; and brother, Donald Lesher. Rather than flowers, contribution in Ivan's memory may be sent to Willing Workers of Swamp Christian Fellowship Church, 390 Swamp Church Rd., Reinholds, PA 17569.
