James Alan Byrd Sr., 73, of Narvon, passed away Wednesday, November 1, 2023. Born in Media, he was a son to the late Fred H. & Dorothy Elaine (Talley) Byrd. Jim was a graduate of Henderson High School, class of 1967 in West Chester. He moved to Florida in 1979 and for over 20 years Jim worked for the Dept. of Transportation in Ft Myers. Returning to Pennsylvania in 2004, he worked in truck assembly at the Morgan Corporation in Morgantown for several years. Jim was a motorcycle enthusiast, he loved to ride but even more, he loved taking his children and grandchildren on the bike. The kids were thrilled to be picked up by Jim on the motorcycle. Short trips or long, the motorcycle memories will be forever treasured. Jim enjoyed playing billiards and with a pool cue in hand, he mastered the game, made lifelong friends, and spent time with his family. He played in several local pool leagues and even traveled to tournaments in Las Vegas. He was fun and outgoing, and with a cold Bud Light, he loved to show his ‘jovial Jim' side. Jim was a loving father and is survived by four children, James Byrd II (Julie Krammes) of Stevens, Heidi M. Byrd of Narvon, Casey A. Byrd (Felicia Bulson) of Denver, Silver L. Meadows (Ryan Sr.) of Narvon; 10 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; three sisters; and the mother of his children, Kathleen Stoner of Narvon. Services will be private. Jim's final resting place is in Union Hill Cemetery, Kennett Square, Pa. Cremation arrangements by Good Sipler Funeral & Cremation Centre, Inc., Reamstown (Stevens).
