James F. "Bear" Costello

Remembering James "Bear" Costello... James F. "Bear" Costello, 55, of 44 South King Street, Stevens, Lancaster County, died Tuesday morning at 10:45 AM in the Veteran's Administration Medical Center, South Lebanon Township, Lebanon County, where he was a patient one day. His death followed a 2 year illness. Born in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Joseph M. and Mabel M. (Chambers) Costello, and was the husband of Nobuko (Yohena) Costello for the past 28 years. He was a Marine Corps Corporal in the Vietnam War and was of the catholic faith. Costello last worked as a quality control inspector for Kalas Manufacturing, Inc., Denver, PA, where he worked for 10 years. He was a 1964 graduate of Lancaster Catholic High School, president of the Vietnam Motorcycle Club Chapter X, member of VFW Post 1690 of Lancaster, member of Ephrata AmVets Post 136 of Ephrata, and avid Harley Davidson fan and loved and had many body tattoos. Surviving in addition to his wife, is a daughter, Jane M. Costello, at home; 2 sons, Michael D., married to Kimberly (Martin) Costello; and William E., married to Beverly (Anderson) Costello, both of Lancaster; 4 grandchildren; and a brother, Donald, married to Shelda Fay (Bitner) Costello, Lancaster. A son, Donald J. Costello, died in 1992. Memorial Service... James' memorial service will be held from our parlor on Saturday, February 2, 2002, at 12:00 Noon with Chaplain Dennis Young officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until the service time. There will be no viewing.
