James L. Jenkins

March 28, 1947 — June 22, 2024

James L. Jenkins Sr., 77, of East Earl, passed away in the loving presence of his family on Saturday, June 22, 2024, in the WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital. Born in Chester Twp., Jim was a son of the late Wient and Betty Lee (Kolias) Jenkins.


Jim served in the U.S. Navy and was a Vietnam War veteran. He was proud of his service; the Navy was an impactful part of his life. Jim was a Boilermakers Union member where he was a welder, working many different jobs at varying sites for 35 years. He was hardworking and later converted his welding skills into his own business, L&J Enterprises, for over 10 years until he retired. He enjoyed the York Scooter Club riding regularly with his friends and scooter-enthusiast companions. He even converted his own scooter into a trike. Jim loved his grandkids and great grandkids; he enjoyed his role as Pop Pop and Poppy.


Jim is survived by two sons, James L. Jenkins (JoMarie) of Denver and William M. Jenkins (Michelle) of Ephrata; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; sister, Judie Rosborough of DE; a brother, Wient 'Bill' Jenkins (Susan) of TN. Jim was predeceased by son, Derek A. Jenkins and brother, G. Michael Jenkins.

Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers are appreciated to Bethesda United Methodist Church, 1086 Hilldale Rd, Holtwood, PA 17532.


Private services with military honors will accompany Jim to his final resting place at Bethesda United Methodist Church Cemetery, Holtwood, Pa.
