Remembering Jerry with Love... Jerry H. Englert, 73, of 3 James Drive, Denver, Lancaster County, PA, died Tuesday morning in Harrisburg Hospital following a lengthy battle with kidney disease. Born February 9, 1931, in Lockport, PA, he was a son of the late Lester C. and Marilla (Hoy) Englert, Sr., and was the husband of Ann (Cross) Englert for 53 years. A member, former elder, deacon and council member of Peace United Church of Christ, Swartzville, Lancaster County, he retired in 1987 after 33 years with General Public Utilities, now First Energy Corporation, Reading, PA, as a systems analyst. Jerry was a staff sergeant in the the army during the Korean War and had attended Lycoming College, Williamsport, PA. He was past president of the East Cocalico Lions Club, Reamstown, PA and a member of the Randolph Lodge #1268 Free Accpeted Masons of Schertz,Texas, Scottish Rite of San Antonio, TX, and the Rajah Temple, Reading.. Surviving in addition to his wife is a son, Jerry L., husband of Diane (Shober) Englert; and a daughter, Amy M., wife of Douglas A. Sawyer, both of Denver, PA; 2 grandsons, Joshua and Drew; and a brother, Lester C. Englert, Jr., Lock Haven, PA. Viewing Service A viewing will be held on Saturday morning, February 5, 2005, from 9:00 to 11:00 AM from Peace United Church of Christ, 37 East Swartzville Road, Denver, PA 17517. The ceremony celebrating Jerry's life will begin at 11:00 AM with his pastor, The Reverend William E. Hoch, officiating.Burial will follow in Muddy Creek Cemetery, Swartzville, Lancaster County, PA. The family requests that rather than flowers, contributions be sent in Jerry's memory to his church or to the PKD Foundation (a charity to research and ultimately find a cure for polycystic kidney disease), 9221 Ward Parkway, Suite 400, Kansas City, MO 64114 (for more information just click on the logo at left).
